Cold storage presents a special case of insulating, because we want to prevent heat gains all year round.
In cooling units design, special attention must be given both to the thermal insulation and the correct sequence of layers. Due to extreme conditions in a cooling unit, the thermal insulation must be non-absorbent and must not loose its efficiency over time, while the thermal insulation below the floor must also withstand permanent high loads. As thermal insulation made of XPS fulfills all above conditions, it can be used in walls as well as floors. The thermal insulation's compressive strength is determined by the required load, by the manipulation processes planned, and by the specific construction assembly's layering.
